Bloganuary Day 1: Achievements

Hi there! I found the WordPress Bloganuary challenge a few days into January, and so I’m going back to write the older ones so that I can have a full month of Bloganuary done. I quite like the idea of a blogging challenge, and so here I am, participating.

The first prompt is:

What is something you want to achieve this year?

I’ve already written a post about my writing goals for the year, and so I’d like to switch gears in this post to something slightly more personal.

My word for 2023 is soften.

Soften. This word means many things to me:

  • Less negative self-talk. But, more than that, the opposite: more positive self-talk.

  • Be kinder with deadlines, and in this context this means: be kinder if I happen to miss a deadline or two due to life circumstances, whatever they may be.

  • Communicate in a softer, gentler, and more intentional manner.

  • Be more patient. Sometimes I joke I’m the least patient person in the world, and so it’s probably about time I focus on finding patience rather than cultivating this bad habit while making jokes.

I’d like to explore more.

This doesn’t necessarily mean travel. I’d like to explore more within the place where I live, to visit places indoors and outdoors that I’ve never been, or haven’t been to in years.

But… how else can one explore?

I could explore new books, movies, research topics I’d like to know more about, engage in more creative play (which could lead to exploration on the page), and I’d also like to play a whole lot more Dungeons and Dragons, so that I can explore an imaginative world through text, roleplaying, and well-crafted battles.
