IFF: Sugar Too Sweet by Alexandra Vincent
Book Description:
"Not everyone has the same heart the special ones though have golden honeycomb that beats passionately in their chest and the love is pure and raw dripping honey like a waterfall." --From Sugar Too Sweet
In her second book of poetry, Alexandra Vincent explores the desires of young love, torment and despair in the face of heartbreak, and the reflection and healing that follows the end of a relationship.
In her vulnerable story of love and loss, Alex breaks up her passionate and soul-stirring collection into three Golden Era, Mad Honey, and Bittersweet. With each section taking on themes of its own.
My Review:
Sugar Too Sweet is Vincent's second poetry collection, and considering how much I liked her first collection Monarch, this one had a lot to live up to. Let me be clear: this book did not disappoint.
One of the great joys of Vincent's poetry collections are their beauty. Flipping through each page is a visual adventure of beautiful formatting and illustrations that make me feel like I'm entering a new world, and each poem allows me to stay, exploring the depths of each line.
My favorites from this collection are January & June, Fate, and so many more that are unnamed. Vincent's work is poignant and smart with an emotional edge, and she is so incredibly talented.
