About Traveling Alpaca Stories

Traveling Alpaca Stories is a fiction project where I pair my favorite Traveling Alpaca photos with an original 150-word short story.

The photography project began in 2010 as Traveling Alpaca when I bought a small plastic alpaca began carrying him with me everywhere I went, taking photos of his adventures. Initially, I shared his photos on Tumblr, and he’s had a few different homes on the web since.

Since I’ve always loved this project, in 2016 I began going through my old Traveling Alpaca photos (I’ve taken over 1,000 photos of him over the years) and became inspired to write stories based on my favorite photos. These are those stories.

About Al, The Traveling Alpaca

Al is an alpaca. He’s made of plastic. While most plastic alpacas may prefer to stay at home, Al gets stir crazy and loves to travel.
